According to Mrs. Maria Wophil, secretary of the AFN, the postponement became necessary to enable the federation tidy up loose ends in connection with the event expected to throw up fresh challenges.
“Every other thing connected with the second leg of the Golden League in Ibadan stands.
” We regret this postponement and the inconveniences it may have caused expected athletes and officials,” observed the AFN scribe in a notice to states and clubs at the weekend.
The hosting right of the second leg was first awarded to Ilaro Stadium but due to inability of Ogun State and the federation to reach an accord on the modalities for the Golden League caused the shift to the NSC owned Liberty Stadium in Ibadan.
