Grace Nwokocha ran an outstanding anchor leg to pull the Nigerian women’s 4x100m relay quartet into the fourth position, missing the final, but setting a new African record of 42.22 seconds at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22.
The team made up of Joy Udo-Gabriel, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili and Grace Nwokocha smashed the 30-year old national and continental record set by the quartet of Beatrice Utondu, Faith Idehen, Christy Opara-Thompson and Mary Onyali at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.
