Africa Junior 100m champion Josephine Omaka lead a complete Nigeria dominance of the sprints at the West Africa Regional Olympic Youth Athletics qualifier in Dakar Senegal last weekend.
Omaka clocked 11.72 (+1.8), while Harry Chukwudi (10.74) (+0.2) prevailed in the men version of the event. Jonathan Nmaju 21.38 (+1.0) won the 200m.Japhet Samuel (48.48) and Jonathan Nmaju (48.80) made it 1-2 for Nigeria over the 400m.
In the women contest Nkiruka Uwakwe (24.25) edged Bukola Abogunloko (24.40) in the wind assisted 200m. The results were reversed in the 400m where Abogunloko (53.84) carried the day ahead of Uwakwe (54.23).
On the in field Nigerians Augustine Ifeanyui (16.89m) and Chime Nkechi (14.05m) outclassed their opponent in the men’s and women’s shot put. Nigeria were also comfortably won the medley relays.
