The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) President, Solomon Ogba, has expressed satisfaction with the improvement in the conduct and outcome of the 4th CAA Abuja Grand Prix, which held at the Abuja National Stadium last weekend.

Ogba said that the Abuja Grand Prix had in no small way exposed the standar of Nigerian athletes, praising especially the Nigerian 4×400 relay team, which won the event and qualified for the IAAF World Athletics Championships with a 3:02.33 clocking.

He noted that since 1994, no Nigerian athlete had been able to make eight metres in long jump and promised that with what he saw at the meet, Nigerian athletes would exceed that mark at the Mobil Track and Field Championship this week.

“There has been a serious improvement in our 4x400m team. I am very happy they have made an Olympic mark today,” Ogba said.
